How the CIM Analyzer works

Turn the documents you have into a structured acquisition review, whether you start with a CIM, a P&L, a tax return, or all three.

1

Name the analysis

Enter a recognizable analysis name and the proposed purchase price. The name is used in My Reports, while the price provides the baseline for the SBA viability estimate.

2

Upload what you have

Upload at least one supported PDF: a CIM, a P&Ls, or text-readable tax returns. You can add one CIM, up to three P&Ls, and up to three tax returns in one analysis.

3

Compare and refine

Review extracted periods, switch between P&Ls and tax returns, and use YoY or Diff to spot changes. Check possible add-backs and edit their amounts or treatment when your diligence supports it.

4

Choose the SDE basis

Select the P&L average, tax-return average, or a custom SDE for the SBA snapshot. Use the suggested questions or Analysis Assistant when you want help understanding discrepancies and adjustments.

CIM Analyzer FAQs

Do I need a CIM to run an analysis?

No. You can run an analysis with any one supported document: a CIM, a P&L, or a text-readable tax return. Add more documents when you want a more complete comparison.

Which financials are used when I upload both a CIM and P&Ls?

Uploaded P&Ls take priority over financial statements found inside the CIM. The CIM is still used for the business overview when readable overview information is available.

How are tax returns analyzed?

BizHub extracts the federal 1120 summary and supporting Other Deductions statement, then organizes revenue, expenses, net income, and potential SDE adjustments. Tax returns must contain readable text; scanned tax returns are not currently supported.

Can the analyzer read scanned or image-based PDFs?

CIMs and P&Ls can use a scanned-PDF fallback when readable text cannot be extracted. Tax returns returns must contain readable text so BizHub can reliably locate the correct tax pages.

What does Diff show?

Diff compares matching full-year P&L and tax-return values. On the P&L tab it shows P&L minus tax return; on the Tax Returns tab it shows tax return minus P&L. A positive or negative difference is not automatically good or bad.

How does BizHub estimate SDE?

BizHub starts with reported net income and adds only adjustments marked Added to SDE. Possible add-backs are shown for review but are not counted until you change their status. You can edit adjustment amounts and treatment as your diligence develops.

Which SDE does the SBA snapshot use?

You can select the average SDE from P&Ls, the average estimated SDE from tax returns, or enter a custom amount. When tax returns are available, their average is selected by default and the chosen basis is shown clearly.

How many files can I upload?

Each analysis supports one optional CIM, up to three P&Ls, and up to three text-readable tax returns. You only need one supported document to run.

Can I ask questions about the completed analysis?

Yes. Use the suggested questions below the results or open the Analysis Assistant to ask about discrepancies, possible add-backs, risks, and which SDE basis may be appropriate for your review.

What happens if no CIM overview can be extracted?

The overview card will explain that no CIM overview data was extracted, but the analysis will continue using any available P&L or supported tax-return data.

BizHub provides educational analysis, not accounting, legal, tax, lending, valuation, or investment advice. Verify extracted figures and conclusions against the source documents and with the appropriate professionals.
